OSAA was awarded $31,999 as part of a Saratoga County grant throught the Department of Aging and Youth Services.  This TEAM Sports funding is provided by the Saratoga County Department of Aging and Youth Services via funding that was secured from the New York State Office of Children and Family Services (OCFS). A fund was created under OCFS in the state fiscal year 2023-2024 budget to provide awards to support youth team sports programs for underserved youth under age 18 and repeat funding from the State is not guaranteed.

Here is an excerpt from the article:

The Old Saratoga Athletic Association (OSAA) was awarded the most funding, $31,999, to purchase a vinyl storage garage. OSAA President Mike Prendergast shared that half of their eight sports utilize Fort Hardy Park which has about four sheds down which have reached “their point of existence.” With OSAA serving kindergarten through grade six students of the Schuylerville school district, about 675 students, according to Prendergast, an upgrade to these facilities is a must and he’s very appreciative of these funds.

“So we’ve reached a tipping point to where the floor is starting to disintegrate, the ceilings of our sheds are starting to go as well, and we want our equipment to have longevity,” said Prendergast. “We’re using a lot of our money to replace those four sheds that are in Fort Hardy, which a lot of people complain about being a little bit sore eyes for the park, so putting in a spot that might be a little bit more feasible for our town and our village.”

OSAA November Vote

During our November monthly meeting, OSAA voted in our nominated people for any empty spots on our Board.  The following people were nominated for these 4 open spots:

Kristen Becht - Secretary
Amanda Garnder - Co-Softball Commissioner
Sarah Alderman - Co-Softball Commissioner
Jeremiah Englehart - Co-Football Comissioner
Becky Lockwood - Communications

We appreciate these individuals stepping up and wanting to volunteer within our Schuylerville community.

We would also like to extend a HUGE thank you to Rick Schwerd and Kristen Palmer for all the help they have given us through the years.  All of their kids are aging out of the OSAA and they are following them to the next step, which is modified sports.

THE OSAA NEEDS YOU!

The success of our youth sports programs is dependent on volunteers.

We have some new board member but are always grateful to have more assistance. If you are interested yourself, or know someone who is, please reach out to a current board member or attend our next OSAA board meeting.
